Do you have any idea what we could do with the kind of money we spend in Iraq. The war has already cost America half a trillion dollars, not to mention we spend that EVERY YEAR on the military. We could seriously have a paradise with amazing education, clean air, free health care, and the list goes on and on. It's really hard to belive that such a life is within our grasp, but chances are we'll never see it.

With all of the USA's treaties and other international connections and entanglements not to mention it's reliance on foreign materiel ie: oil, but also metals and organics the Americans have come to need the question is where does US business end.I don't think that the USA should be in Iraq but at the same time I think they should be in Afghanistan. They have this in common, the USA created the situation that men and women are dying to remove. The real problem is that we are stuck with the USA as world police and on a certain level they are justified. That being the case the world should insist that the police chief and his staff be men and women of honour, principle and intelligence.Something that the present gang have been shown to have none of.The gang has shown that the have no honour in their taking money from Abromnov and if not taking money not saying anything about what they know about it. Using their position to reveal the name of an undercover operative. They have made no mention of or expressed any remorse about the fact that foreign intelligence services hunted down, tortured those, they were told by this revelation, had met with a CIA operative. No Americans died but we have no idea of how many assests were killed for being in contact with the women.Or how many innocents died for having a cup of coffee with her.As for principle and intelligence. They allowed their country to attack the wrong country. Putting aside all they knew, all that they had been told and shown they allowed their commander in chief tell them what intelligence info said. Ignoring the fact that he wasn't trained in it or had even seen the files.Knowing that his view of the files was predicated by a decision made two days after he entered the oval office for the first time. No one stood by principle and said "shrub, your wrong". Simply if they were intelligent they would have seen that the damage to their own careers would have not come close to the damage to their country. If there was any honour in Washington for if there was there would be a lot of new faces as the old ones resign.

We have tried that social experiment way too long. Most of the lazy people that live here need to get off the pot and work.
There are plenty of jobs for everyone. You can not always be rich and you defiantly cant be rich living off of the government.
We give and do for other countries so we do not have to keep going to war with others. You may not agree to how we spend our money, but sometimes it buys peace around the world.

For once an intelligent American, there are a few of you out there, unfortunately it's only the rednecks and political inept that do the world slamming on this site. I couldn't agree with you more, the world would be a better place with no US intervention in other countries policies and politics.

Absolutely, 100% YES, when we are not wanted, however when a country asks for help, we should give it. I too love this great country, but in the words of Ron Kovic, Vietnam Vet and the subject of the film BORN ON THE FOURTH OF JULY, "I love America, but the love stops at it's Government. A Government that says it's legal to burn our flag and murder babies legally by calling it abortion!" I love Ron, met him, great man.

You're preaching to the choir here. How in the world did we get in a position to be sending so much money to other nations when we haven't solved our problems here. Not that I think we should be handing out money to people who will not take care of themselves, but certainly more could be done to help those who truly need it.

It sounds like a good idea in theory. Unfortunately, other countries are always in need of our assistance in one form or another.
Maybe one day everyone will be able to take care of themselves for once.
The fact also remains that if we don't pay attention to some of these issues, sooner or later these other countries will be knocking on our back door ready to relieve us of all that money we're keeping to ourselves.

Some of the money we gave to help the victims of the tsunami ended up going to Al Qaeda instead.

I think thats a great idea. To bad something so simple is so hard for the rest of the world to grasp. Just goes to show, its the common man/woman who has the common sence.

America tried to "mind its own business" and you know where that got us? Unprepared for a little thing called WWII. Check out my source.
