If a man says something and he knows it would upset his wife(if she wasn't there to hear it) and he says it anyways, then yes, it's wrong.

My general rule is: If you have to ask, you already know the answer. Clearly you have shown your wife some sort of disrespect and want us to tell you it's alright. You already know it's not. You knew the answer to this question by asking it.
