Hezbollah is the problem, and they hide in Lebanon using human shields. The crazies in the Middle East want the Jews killed all over again, and Israel is just a tiny space trying to survive the terror.

I am sorry to burst Nora 2200's bubble but this war has been going on for a lot longer than 25 years this war has been going on since before the birth of Christ. What it really boils down to is this. Muslims believe that they are to declare Jihad on the infidels. What is an infidel you ask? The definition of the word infidel is a non believer in the muslim faith. So that means every one that is not muslim is an infidel. They are asured a place in paradise if they are able to kill an infidel. Since Isreal is the only one of the countries over in that part of the world that is truly a democracy and they are primarily Christian in belief there is the problem. Some of the prisoners that Nora was reffering to are from attacks that were instigated by Lebanon not Isreal. The Isrealis hold the gaza strip and most parts of jeruselum to have significant religous meaning to thier culture. The muslims on the other hand feel that the religous conotatations that the Isrealis place on these locations is an abomination to Mohammed the profit of allah. The attacks on the people of Isreal which it was more than just two soldiers that were kiddnapped there were also several Isreali civillians, were commited by a radical faction of the Lebonese people. However what is the difference there when Isreal deffends itself against radical terrorists being housed by a country and what we as Americans did with Afghanistan where the Taliban Govt. helped and protected radical muslim terorists? I challenge you to tell me one all I want is one. Christian terrorist organization. When you look at terrorists around the world they are mostly muslim in belief.
Now that I have stood on my soap box I would like you all to know I am not sayin we need to kill all muslims or that there are not those in the religion that are not good people. I happen to have a very good friend who I would lay my life down for in an instant who is muslim and from Lebanon. He was also in the United States Armed forces with me and would have laid his life down also. He did not agree with alot of what the muslim belief system teaches. I have been deployed to Iraq where I helped many Iraqi people but I am also now a disabled Vetran because of a radical muslim terrorists car bomb that was detonated beside my truck on the road. I was injured there were no American casualties however that car bomb killed 12 Iraqi people 3 of which were kids, and injured several more. That is just so you know where I am coming from on this topic. I believe Isreal is in the right here. They are standing thier ground and with the Lord God on thier side I feel very bad for any country in the world that attacks them. By the way the United States is the only country left in the world that still backs Isreal. And the day we stop will be the day our way of life comes to an end.

well i read all of the answers here some of em are fair enough some of em are too stupid to comment about

anyway am lebanese... in principle am against hizbollah but in this last war am totaly and 100% backing them up

as for WHY theres war between my country and israel well its simple! theyre occupying my country (south of it) since more than 40 years

and hizbollah is acting as a resistance in the south of lebanon .. and its a given right to every country in the world to defend its land..

as for hizbolah beeing terrorists well can i ask u WHO defined them as terrorist? OH YA! its USA oh and who has a REAL effect on the usa's economy oh ya its the JEWS and since every jew is an israely well :) i think u know where im heading to... so if lebanon the place where HIZBOLLAH is considered as a resistance... usa and every other country in the world could keep calling them terrorists till the end of days see if we care..!

but dont get me wrong hizbollah arent exactly angels... and those terrorists ur talking about are usualy sent from either SYRIA or iran...which is a known fact

The conflict goes back 25 years.

Israel invaded Lebanon that long ago, and finally left in 2001.

Israel still holds 5,000 Lebanese citizens in jails with no trials or prospect of release.

Hezbollah, a vigilante group that doesn't follow Lebanese laws but is made up of Lebanese men, stages small attacks against Israel.

Israel attacked Lebanon with huge amounts of bombs and a blockade by sea, supported by the US government, after one of these minor attacks by Hezbollah. (2 Israeli soldiers were kidnapped.)

Thousands of people were killed in Lebanon by Israeli troops and bombs, and many farms, orchards, businesses, and homes were destroyed by Israeli bombs. The Israeli attack was ended by a cease-fire arranged by the UN.

Hezbollah claimed victory, and has helped with reconstruction using money they got from Iran. The Lebanese people, however, are not grateful to them, as they see them as the cause for the conflict in the first place.

Nobody has asked my opinion, but I'll give it anyway:

I think that Israel should be charged with whatever it costs to repair or replace any damage it did in Lebanon, and I think they should pay $100,000 to each family that had someone killed by Israeli bombs or soldiers. US aid to Israel should be suspended until this is done, and then there will be a LOT fewer spur-of-the-moment, overkill attacks against nearly-defenseless countries.

Don't you have a TV or Radio or Newspaper or Internet news ?
Hezbullah terrorists in Lebanon kidnapped a couple of Israeli soldiers and were shooting rockets into Israel...
What do you think the United States would do if Mexico started kidnapping American soldiers and shooting missles into the USA?
Israel should have destroyed Lebanon but they screwed up and did not....

ISRAEL - A JEWISH STATE IS IN THE MIDDLE OF ALL ISLAMIC STATES, SURROUNDING IT. THE PROBLEM IT HAS CHOSEN FOR SETTLEMENT, CARVED OUT OF PALESTINE. WHEN ISRAEL STATE CAME INTO EXISTENCE, IT, KNEW THE CONSEQUENCES. WITH THE HELP OF US & OTHER WESTERN NATIONS, IT IS SHOWING ITS HEGEMONY. ISRAEL WAS CREATED AT THAT PLACE, BECAUSE HIGH OIL RESOURCES AND US OR BRITAIN WOULD NOT WISH TO LEAVE THE CONTROL. SO LEBANON OR ANY OTHER NATION, THE PROBLEM IS GOING TO BE THERE, TILL OIL IS PRICED COMMODITY.
