Have you ever worked in a fast food restaurant?

If so, what was it like?

I work at Whataburger's, it's a hamburger fast food chain in the Southern US. I do the drinks and expedite. I get to deal with mean customers. It isn't fun.

I have worked at four different ones. When I was younger I did not know how to handle the rude customers. When I got older I learned to be nice. I would say things like "I am sorry this it taking a few minutes, you look you have had a hard day." or "I hope the rest of your day goes better" or "Have a blessed day" I found out that being nice doesn't hurt and if the customer is rude the one behind him/her will be extra nice to you if they see some one was rude to such a nice service person.

Yes, I worked at McDonald's when I was pregnant with my son. I really enjoyed working there. They let me eat all the food I wanted. They just laughed at me. I was a very good worker. The managers wouold always get on me about drinking coffee, so I switched to Decaf. When people would come in and ask for a hamburger and some water, because they didn't have much money, I would give them the hamburger, plus a meal with soda. I did that alot. They would look at me funny and soon as they were about to say Hey, I did'nt order all that. I would just say "Just leave, hurry up." and they would walk out with a smile on their face.

I worked at a Jack in the Box for about a year... around 1973.

I used to go home feeling like a human french fry, after standing over the fryers all shift long. I liked it a lot better when I could work the counter and deal with the customers. Most of them made for interesting people-watching.

Mostly, it felt really good to be earning my own paycheck and to have a little bit of freedom that came with having my own money to spend. It wasn't much, but it was a start.

I have worked in fast food. There are a lot of people that are not that nice in that line of work. You just have to go with it and put on your best smile if you want to keep the job. I'm not that good at being fake so I didn't last very long at that job.

KFC - 2 months and McDonalds - 5 months..it was cool and fun workin there, but i couldnt take the pressure at KFC's, but at mcd's was fun, went on trips, quizes, entertainment, etc..and i almost got picked out to be the best employer of the month, but missed by mere 3 points...didnt feel bad at all!! had a whale of time at McDonalds...

I worked at BurgerFling about 10 years ago. Most fast food jobs are gonna be comparable to yours. Just remember to keep this perspective before you complain about the service/food anywhere you go out to eat.

I worked at several coffee houses and juice bars. It was pretty good. I only had a handful of evil customers. I got lucky because I had some great managers.

It has been ages, but I still remember making the food at KFC....Ugh! I feel for ya...hang in there! We all gotta do what we can to make the bucks. Handling mean customers can be fun....just be yourself and turn things around on them. Don't let them get to you....

no i haven't but maybe some of my friends that have will answer.
but i have worked in customer service with insanely mean customers. if you think those customers are mean, then you should go into telemarketing and see how mean people can really get.

I did at KFC for sometimes.. They give free lunch for workers and i'm really sick of eating it now.. The customers aren't nice and managers sucks too..
