yes, the Sahara was once forested. But campfires did not cause global warming.
Climate change as well as farming turned it into a desert. Many towns and villages grew up around the rivers and lakes and thrived until the climate changed or the resources were used up.
The trees were cut down for firewood, to grow grain, and for building materials.. Overgrazing by domesticated livestock also help strip the land of grasses that helped retain water.
In the Saudia Arabian deserts there are pictographs on stone that show an abundance of life teeming with hippos, lions, and deer of many kind.
Most great civilizations fall due in part to ecological mismangement and overuse.. Wars were originally fought for control of arable land and water resources;.Not religion.

No. Do you really believe that early man's campfires contributed more CO2 into our atmosphere than naturally occuring forrest fires, volcanoes, and the like? If you add up all the man-made pollution today, it STILL doesn't compete on a global scale to mother nature's naturally occuring pollutants. The earth's climate has been changing since the earth was formed, and it goes through cycles--warm and cool, and will continue to do so regardless of what humans do.

That's ridiculous. Man was not creating nearly enough CO2 to have any appreciable affect on our atmosphere's composition until the industrial revolution. Just chalk this up to the NATURAL cycle of global warming that has been around since earth got an atmosphere. This cycle is, I believe, the cause of our current warming, because we humans can't even begin to screw with the earth. We're way too insignificant.
