I would recommend anything by Issac Asimov.
Of particular interest is the Foundation Series. I enjoyed how he ties in one series to another.
Everyone should read Merle Haggard's autobiography. (the first one) the follow up is good too, but "Sing Me Back Home" is still vivid after many years.
Orson Scott Card's "Ender's Game"
and last but not least
any book that deals with Edgar Cayce

Depends what kind of genre you'd prefer to read. But I would suggest books based on actual history. An author that I would suggest reading is Carl Sagan, though his books are not like real novels, but interesting nonetheless.

Try the Wheel of Time Series by Robert Jordan... it's good reading and you won't have to ask this question again for at least a year!!!
