I don't know if many can be had for under $2000, but you DEFINATELY need to stick to Toyota or Honda--they are the two most reliable cars in the world, and their resale values are strong because of it. If you buy an American piece of junk, expect it to need lots of repairs, and you better learn how to do those repairs yourself--that's why late model American cars have no resale value, they don't last.

-Definitely Japanese vehicle makes and in my opinion, TOYOTA as japanese cars in this year range have revealed themselves to be reliable cars(Specially Toyota).(% Breakdown lower than other cars--Engine still in good condition after 150 000 KM--or after 5--7 years no matter if you are a normal or sport driver).

for the years and the money id have to say a good Toyota corolla has to be the best one in this category, there really good little cars and they last forever seems like,,i own a repair shop,,and i have worked on a few of them but they really don't give a lot of major problems,i had one with over 300 thousand on it and it still ran real good, and as far as money goes you can find them everywhere, they give you your moneys worth and then some,,good luck,i hope this help,s.
