Remember that most societies are patriarchal. Run by men and the "norms" and "acceptable social behaviors" are also dictated by men. Men through out time have looked at women as Dominant Sexual objects amongst other things. Where as men were seen as the strong Dominant Providers. Seeing to men together would some how be demasculating. But two women together would be considered Sexy. Two sexual Objects going at it. This is why. Its usually acceptable to men, where as most women I know Like the idea of men having sex with men or at least are more accepting of it. Why cuz it takes down that Macho wall a little bit. Men are then on the receiving end of some activities and can now identify with what women go through, by actually being put in the "positions" women are put into.

Actually, I don't agree with you. Yes, gays are treated with more open hostility than lesbians, but I think the difference pretty much ends there. Lesbian porn is created by men for men, it's male fantasy and yeh they think it's great. Similarly, the hot girl-girl make out in Girls Gone Wild is a hot titillation that appeals to male fantasy. Yes, so too does the young bi-curious fem fling on the wild side. But these "variations" of lesbianism are all accepted only in terms of male fantasy of women that men can watch or be with. That's different than the reaction to regular full-time lesbian relationships which are not at all about pleasing men. The women in these relationships so often are considered as "must have been molested or treated real bad by men" hence they are weak and hurt by life, blah, blah. Or, they aren't really having a sexual relationship so they must just cuddle and basically be asexual - again deficient in some basic way. Or, they are mentally ill. Or, they are disgusting. Or, some combination of the above and some other less than stereotypes as well. In other words, the derision and unacceptance is pretty much the same, just less of an openly hostile threat to other males.

in my humble opinion.... lesbianism is only excepted but really if you look at it, many men (and men have the political and social power) sexualize two women together.... in other words they get off on it.... It is accepted because it is objectifed like much of women's sexuality is. ... so whats better being more accepted or objectified? I bet most people are only accepting the sexual part of a lesbiasm and not the other parts of well just being a woman.

actual, the middle east and u . s . a . are the only factors interior the international that have a harsh unfavourable outlook against homosexuality. it extremely is simply by fact US standards for adult males incorporate being great masculine, muscular, and sporty. whilst a guy likes yet another guy it extremely isn't any longer seen masculine so there's a unfavourable stigma linked to it. in the time of Greek and Roman situations, human beings have been extra accepting of relationships between all people simply by fact the main considerable component replaced into love. Plus the male physique replaced into seen appropriate so all people needed a bite of it lol and ladies folk have been meant to stay at abode so whilst away to conflict or traveling adult males released their sexual tensions on one yet another. desire this helps!

I think it's the straight men in the world who make it so hard on the gays. And I think it's b/c straight men are attracted to women and of course they'd love to see two women kiss, have sex and do freaky things to each other it's just hot, But to see men who are supposed to be masculine and just manly and stuff, but to see them act feminine it's just not "cute" b/c that's not the typical man to some people. And people don't like or accept things that they don't understand or find weird. It's sad but true!

The main reason is that lesbians are seldom taken seriously. Many men have the absurd idea that all a woman needs is a good f*** to change them. They also tend to find the fantasy of two women erotic and are frequently more into voyeurism than women.
They do not have the same reaction to the idea of two men because it is not "macho".
Frequently males view of women and of sex is that of domination.. and two men means one of them is not "manly" so it threatens their precepts about males being the dominant sex.

Several factors
1) girl/girl sex is not "penetrative;" that is, there aren't any interlocking parts as in male/male or male female sex. In many regards, it's not even really "sex"
2) Our culture celebrates the beauty of women. Part of the allure of seeing two girls together is the idea that it's a depiction of beauty loving beauty, as opposed to strength or power loving beauty.
3) I think the images men conjure up with respect to lesbian sex is one of sensuality, not romanticism. In the male fantasy version of lesbianism, women are free to separate love from lust. To some extent, this attitude spills over into the real world, which is why plenty of girls in their early 20s are getting heavy with their girlfriends in dance clubs - it's an easy way to be "promiscuous" with the same sex, because in that type of relationship, they CAN detach from emotions.
4) Gay (Male) imagery comes with several connotations which are more threatening to society in as a whole. Men, being quasi-predatory in their pursuit of sex must do so, even in gay relationships. Straight men aren't accustomed to being prey (in fact, this is the ONLY situation where men are prey), and when "top" men make an overture, it makes them uncomfortable. Men's coping skills are limited, and in this case, I think the coping skill that men use is anger. That has a larger chilling effect on our culture's willingness to accept gay men.
5) The gay men who assume a femme identity represent (to many in the straight world) a rejection of masculine traits, and I bet, to some extent, that straight men are insulted by that - just why I cannot say.
6) Some people say the visual of mansex is just too ugly. I don't know about that. I think that's just a simplification of my reasons mentioned above.

Depends on who you ask. I know a lot of people who DON'T accept lesbian or gay relationships. I personally, accept both. It's not my business if a man falls in love w/another man or woman. And vise versa. I think it's pretty stupid to judge someone for something they can't control. You can't pick who you love, or who you are attracted to.

Yes, I agree that that is a largely male-centric opinion. They are grossed out by 2 guys getting it on, but are aroused by 2 girls getting it on.
I would think - with no proof - that women accept male homosexuals more than men do.
