Hear me out. The world is evolving at an alarming rate, and I'm positive that with the advances in recent technology (i.e. cloning, genetic manipulation, etc) that it humans will someday be giving birth to animals.

And I do know that humans are animals. I'm talking animals of the 4-legged and tailed variety.

Seriously, why couldn't it happen?

I would say that a woman giving birth to a horse is both impossible and impractical. Let's look first at the cost of making that happen. All kinds of techniques and procedures that have not even been invented yet would have to be employed for this to happen, the cost of which would be prohibitive, when you compare it to simply having a mare give birth to the desired horse you want.

Secondly, if you know anything about horses, they give birth to very mature babies who are able to stand and walk within an hour after their birth. The size of an emerging horse would make it impossible for a woman to successfully carry a horse to full term.

Thirdly, you would need a group of highly trained and almost gifted doctors and scientists involved in such a project. These people would not be attracted to engage in such a foolhardy idea, and would most likely refuse no matter what amount of money was offered.

The idea is just ludicrous.

It cannot happen. You need to take a genetics 110 class or something! At least look it up on the Internet before you post your question. DNA is specific to each species, even with the advances we have made there is NO WAY humans and horses will ever cross-breed.

We cannot even find a cure for cancer--which is a much more simple task than what you speak of!

You talk about the recent advances in technology.. YES, it's amazing, but we have not had many great leaps in EVOLUTION.. therefore, NO, I don't believe that women will be giving birth to horses anytime soon.

Aside from that, there is hardly enough room in the human womb for human babies as it is, even the tiniest of horses could not fit inside (not to mention fitting through the birth canal on the way out)!

One more thing - it is unlikely to happen as there is NO benefit to horses or humans from this experiment (as well, there are billions of other experiments in line before the one you are proposing).

let's throw out genetics for a minute and the absurdity of the question.

the problem that could never be fixed is one of human engineering. A woman's uterus can only stretch so far. once it does it sends a signal to the brain to begin contracting. the physical body isn't going to let itself die for a foreign body. A newborn foal is about 10X the size of the largest human infant ever recorded. Now, what in the hell makes you think a woman would be able to physically carry that weight.

different cell structure, the body would see the horse fetus as a "bad" cell, like cancer or a germ and would produce antibodies to kill it, kinda like rejection in a heart transplant, massive amounts of drugs would be needed to stop the ladies body from killing the horse as it develops...but there is a company is europe who is now growing artificial organs from your own cells, so it could be possiple if they can get the equine genome and recode your cells with it...then it might be possible...to grow a hose in a test tube and then insert that into the human, kinda like IVF...so there is a high chance you will have twins or tiplet horses, or quads but thats a whole other story...possibly requiring multiple wombs, which does happen in 1 out 10,000 woman...

Wow you need to get a life. You have way to much time on your hands. While you at it why don't you ask when will a man be able to give birth to a horse that's an even better question.

Well, as your question stands, No, the birth would kill the host.
However yes, off species can birth others. They use Horses to birth Zebras. The embryo is implanted into the mare who then gestates the baby.

It would make sense that it *could* happen, but I doubt any scientists would be unethical enough to try. Plus, where are they going to get a woman crazy enough to incubate the horse? (Or one with a large enough uterus?)

Personally, my kids were 8 lb. 4 oz. and 8 lb. 11 oz. respectively, and I felt like I was giving birth to horses. :)

I cant believe im even dignifying this question with an answer but i think you really are kidding yourself. Perhaps you would like to volunteer yourself for another form of medical advance,do us all a favour and get a lobotomy.... or have you already had one? Hard to tell

There is a block between species that prevents this! should a pregnancy occur, an automatic abortion takes place via Mother Nature.
