Married since 1971 to present (2006) but, living apart for approximately 15 years off and on. My spouse has 2 or possibly more children outside of the marriage. We have 3 grown children together that he did not support or help in raising. What does this divorce entail for me?

It means that both parties agree to absolutely everything in the divorce decree. From splitting of marital property to child support. Neither of you contest or disagree on anything in the divorce decree. Read it carefully, there can be many tricky phrases in there. It would be best to have a divorce lawyer look at it.

There are two types of divorces:Contested and Uncontested
I've found a pretty decent and simple breakdown of the two on a website that I'll list in the source box.

"Contested divorces are a common scenario, given that there are numerous issues to be worked out between a couple that has decided to break their union. Some of these issues are sensitive subjects such as:

Custody of children and child support
Division of assets and property
Allocation of debts
Alimony

Uncontested Divorce
A divorce is uncontested when the partners seeking to terminate their marriage agree on each and every item and issue related to the ending of their marriage. This does not necessarily mean that the divorce is amicable, but merely that all disputes between husband and wife were resolved outside of the courtroom. "

Uncontested means the person being served with divorce papers is not going to fight it.
I'm assuming you're a female - you get your maiden name back and whatever property the two of you agree on. All your children are grown so you get no child support.
Divorce entails a new life, one of maturity and independence. Obviously you were not treated with respect so now is the time to demand it.
Trial and error
Good luck

Uncontested divorce just means both parties agree to the conditions of the divorce. If there is a property battle or custody battle, then it is contested and you have to battle it out in mediation or court. I hope this helps.

Uncontested just means that the other party than the one who filed does not fight the divorce. It means that whatever terms the filing partner states are agreed to. It is much safer for you to have your own attorney to protect your interests even if you agree to the divorce.

an uncontested divorce is a divorce that has been filed and there is no response from the other party. it is a quick way to go. a contested divorce is usually long and drawn out. you should contact an attorney or a paralegal though.

It should be fairly easy. go to the courthouse and file for a divorce and let them know you have lived apart for 15 yrs. If your spouse does not object to the divorce it can be done in a few short months.

sorry but this was not a marriage i am not sure what you would call it,but the laws are not the same in all states, if you both want this then you go to court and neither one ask for any thing from the other and it is over but i think it was over before it started sorry and again what state you live in you have to be togeather as man and wife in the same house for a year,

It depends who's filing for divorce then the other can contest it, i.e., fight everything to get more or uncontest it, i.e., just agree with the settlement the court offers! Good luck, Sweety!
