i know that the rest is owned by britain, but what about quebec? is it seperate?

Quebec is owned by Canada. Not by Britain. Not by France. One could equally argue it is owned by Quebec, though part of Canada.
Quebec was part of the French North American Empire until the French and Indian War, when it became part of British Canada.
Those in Quebec who favor separation from Canada favor independence, not annexation by France.

Let's have a little history lesson from the very beginning...
North America was colonized by the French and the English. The French colonized "New France" and a big part of the USA, including Louisiana. The English colonized "New England", which I assume you all know, as well as what's now Ontario, and other lands in the US. After several wars, the French had pretty much only Quebec left.
In 1760, there was a big battle in Quebec City, and the French lost. This was the last war between the French and the English, and the French went back to France. All of Northern America was owned by the British.
I trust you know US history enough to know that the US declared independence from Britain in 1776. What was already known as Canada was still owned by Britain, and many loyalists fled the US to move to Canada to be part of the British Empire still.
After long debates, Canada became a country of its own, a confederation, in 1867, more than a hundred years after the French left the continent. Canada was no longer anyone's ownership, and ruled itself.
If your question remains as to why people in Quebec still speak French, the answer is long, and I'll try to be brief. After the 1760 war, the French aristocrats pretty much all left Canada. However, the rest of the settlers remained. There were more French settlers than English settlers in Canada, then. Since the rulers didn't want to face a rebellion (which they knew they'd lose, being outnumbered), they allowed them to speak French and practice their religion (catholicism).

You may be confused because the Queen of the UK is also Queen of Canada - including Quebec. But Canada has been independent since 1867, gained full control over its defence and foeign policy in 1931, and won control over amending its own constitution in 1982.

If Quebec wasn't part of Canada you could believe it was owned by France. It's all part of the same Monarchy.

Quebec is a Canadian State. It is neither English nor French.
Canada belongs to English Common wealth, which means they accept British Queen Elyzabeth II as their own Queen - but they are independent
