If your daughter is getting bruises often then I would speak with her pediatrition to see if there isn,t an underlaying cause for her hitting her head often on things.
Babies are pretty tuff but the head can be tricky-a good hard fall can cause a few different problems-concution,seizures later on,blood clots.
I would just feel better as a mom if I new for certain that my child was,nt falling too much because of a health issue and a visit to the Dr.s can tell you the answer to that question.

The skull is still soft and if she is doing this, I would place a helmet on her. The doctors advise anyone with a child that hits their head alot to use a protective helmet on them.
Better safe than sorry.
Now as she gets older and skull has developed better, you won't need to use one.

At 9 months, what is she hitting her head on??

A helmet couldn't hurt. She may hit her head too hard one time and thats all it would take for permenant brain damage. Consult a physician to see if she has a balance imparment or if there is another reason she keeps hitting her head.

Instead of giving her a helmet, try making her environment safer. Get down on the floor and assess what you can see that would potentially cause injury, and move it out of the way, or get rid of it. Try to make her world safer.

I would say you shouldn't worry, just make sure you watch her closely and pad the sharp edges of tables and remove sharp things that she can hurt herself with. I put pillows everywhere when my children were that age, I moved furniture or put them in the play pen with padded sides and I made sure I was observing them when they started the head banging phase. You would be surprised the cushion they have around there little brains.
