I think the last big tsunami has reminded the scientific community that with all the advancement in predicting a development of a very dangerous tsunami. If there is no way to quickly pass this warning to the people who really needed it, the warning would be useless to the people you are trying to protect.

made them realise to take better measures to resolve such problems .... i.e. they might not be able to stop tsunami but they will be able to help the people to get back to their lives.
