I was nervous too. I had this procedure done in 1997. The operation seems a little scary but you will be so glad to have had this done (a month later).

The surgery usually takes about 3-4 hours but, I hardly noticed being asleep that long. When I woke up, there were plastic tubes attached to my breasts to drain the excess fluid.

My chest looked very flat and felt hard & tight. The discomfort I felt was similar to having a tight piece of fabric tied around my chest, but the medication prescribed by my physician gave me good relief.

My physician instructed me to spend a week at home and have someone there to help me the first night. I was on my feet by the third day, but I still had to take it easy.

The tubes were removed after two days. Stiches after one week. both painless procedures.

I had to keep the breast area clean, apply ointment to the stitches and change dressings as instructed. (to prevent infection)

Your breast will begin to form their new shape within two to three months. So you might want to hold off on your new bra shopping spree until then.

Before your surgery you should purchase soft sports bras that fasten in the front and button down shirts. Your surgeon can suggest what size to purchase. You should not lift anything or raise your arms too high.

The first two months may be a challenge adjusting to the change, but you will be so glad you went through with it. I saved one of my 46 DDD bras and I still celebrate my "Breastday" by buying new bras each anniversary.

Lots of people asked me what happened and I just told people that I had surgery to relieve my back. Some folks I just told them I lost weight.

I'm sure everything will go fine for you. Take Care of yourself and Welcome to the "New Titty Commitee" :)

As a man, I haven't had the surgery.
As a doctor, many of my patients have.
Most are pleased that they went through with it (a good surgeon will leave you looking good and feeling better). A couple have had bad outcomes, however:
-Ugly scars or uneven breasts
-Insensate nipples (can't feel anything)
-Inability to breastfeed future babies
-If done while obese, breasts shrank to nothing after later weightloss
-Persistent pain around the scars
If you have a good reason for having the surgery and a good plastic surgeon, chances are you'll be better off for having had the surgery

Get breast reduction surgery in India. Cosmetic Surgery is very cheap in India. There is one company that is very famous in India that arranges cosmetic surgery for foreigners in India. They are called the Forerunners Healthcare. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and about their patient stories.

I have also read that they arrange financing for American and Canadian patients, as cosmetic surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. The cost savings are incredible. As a doctor I personally believe that your cosmetic surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available here is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

My cousin got a couple of cosmetic surgery procedures in India like the breast reduction, tummy tuck and facelift through the forerunners healthcare. She is more than very happy with the results. She just paid 30% of the amount she was quoted in USA and is all praise for this forerunners healthcare company. I personally have seen the wonderful results and am particularly impressed with the kind of quality care she got from this company. I hope this helps.

Good for you! I'm a nurse and also have had several friends who have had it done. You will not regret it, honestly. Your back, neck and shoulders will be eternally grateful for this decision! Skipping to the answer, yes, you will hurt, but there is medication for that. It is like most other surgery, there will be moments immediately post-op that you will think you made a big mistake, but very shortly after that....and the pain pill taking effect, you will be glad you did it. I have NEVER heard anyone say that they regretted that decision! Good luck and God speed!

I havn't had a breast redution yet, but I am going in for a consult for one next Wed. I wouldn't mind talking to you, and being a support for you. I know what you are going through with the pains the heavy breasts cause.

I haven't had the surgery myself, but I found some patient stories on the internet you might want to read.

I havn't had it, but am seriously hthinking about it too. I am 51 and as I am aging, they are sagging more, and the strain on my neck arms and shoulders is very uncomfortable. Good luck, and let me know how you do.

I used to know of an excellent forum but it has sadly gone bye-bye.

Try this:

And if memory serves me correctly hystersisters.com has a thread on this or you can start one...
Good luck...
