The best time to visit Vegas depends on what you are looking for. If you want to lay out by the pool and soak up some sun, then you will definitely want to visit May - August. If you are looking to stay in a 5 star hotel at an affordable price you would want to visit in the summer or between Thanksgiving and Christmas. If you want to be swept up in a sea of people, visit during any holiday weekend.
For the most part, there are many times of the year when Vegas is a bargain. It totally depends on your tolerance for heat, your ability to visit during the week, and your flexibility in travel plans.
If there is a particular hotel you want to stay at, sign up for their e-mail list. You will get regular e-mails about specials and promotions. This will give you a good idea of when the bargains are available.
Good luck!

I went in May for 2 weeks... it was beautiful the whole time! Temperature was about 102. In July it is very hot... 120. They say September is the best time to go! I went in May, July, and December. Next it will be September : )

Avoid peak convention periods by consulting the calendar at Vegas.com or one of the other websites
Also avoid the months of June, July and August if you cannot stand extreme heat (av temp. 105 degrees)
Hotels are cheaper mid-week and always more expensive on the weekend
