I'm looking very seriously at the iRiver Clix, and will probably buy that one in the next day or two. It does have FM radio, as well as a bunch of other useful features, including video (which is optional for me, too). I tried the interface in the store, and figured most of it out in just minutes, despite being an mp3 newbie. It also looks nice, in my opinion. It only has a 2GB capacity, but that's fine for me. And it supports ogg files, which are looking pretty good! (And I've recorded with them, before; they sound as good as wma to me, and require less space than mp3.) And, like you, I've been mostly avoiding Apple because of the proprietary format. I don't want to be stuck with their hardware and software in ten years. I like what I see, today, but tomorrow may be a different story!

Well, if you want to put music on an Mp3, you do need to connect the mp3 player to a pc or mac sometime. Besides ipods, Zen Micro's also seem popular. And Microsoft is also unleashing their own mp3 type player soon.

Definitely anything from Creative Labs, i.e. the Zen Micro. The iPod is overpriced, being the fashion icon that it is.
