Pulsar is a definitely great bike in India.

Color choice rests with u. Whatever u like, choose. Personally I have found Black color very very attractive and stunning. The bike looks great in black. But it's definitely ur choice.

I dont think there is any problem with gear shifting at all.

Since u have no experience, initially riding pulsar may be a problem of "controlling" the bike. It has got lots of power. Please get someone to teach u proper riding with this bike. Also please ride within speed limits. I will say , if u r comfortable with 60kmph speed , do ride this bike with 50 to 55 kmph. (10% less speed than u can control). The bike has got real raw power.

Enjoy ur rides (but observe safety rules).

Its a good bike for getting around. I agree that proper training is a must - safety first, its painful to learn the hard way. Have not heard of difficulties with the gear shift although bikes are like any other mechanical item - some have problems/some do not - the luck of the draw. Although black is a very lean, cool color the red is far more noticeable if you are going to be doing a lot of riding. Be seen! not run over.

any colour would do and it has no gear problems . If you r not experienced then you ask your pals to teach you a bit and then you can buy one , its a v.good bike.
