Who are these ghastly "friends" of yours, to tell you such awful things that aren't even true? Are they just out to make you unhappy? They sound like the kind of people who tell every pregnant woman they see all about the terrible miscarriages and deformed fetuses they've ever "heard of from a friend of a friend."
I've lived long enough to have known many women who have had hysterectomies and every single one of them thought it a positive thing. If your hormones go out of whack temporarily, they can be replaced and regulated.
Stick with your husband and dump the crappy "friends." What do they expect you to do, go back and have everything stuffed back in?

I had my hysterectomy at the age of 31 and feel better than I ever did. I did have some problems with hot flashes and still occasionally do, but otherwise no ramifications of my surgery at all. Your husband is right. Everyone has their own experiences. Talk to your gyn doc and live your own life and build your own experiences rather than listening to others who are trying to make your life miserable.
The sex is great. I have really not noticed a change in my libido. My life in general is great as well. And the best of all, no periods!!!!!

you know i have had a few friends and family members that have had a hysterectomy at a young age and none of them ever said that their life has changed for the worse they all felt fine no problems .i think if people keep telling you bad things about it your going to be expecting them but life can still be great with out complications . so take life a day at a time and let your self heal and there is a lot of young women that went through the same thing you did if you need conseling get it. stay positive and i hope all goes well for you keep away from the negative people stay busy and active .your health is more important . listen to your husband sounds like he supports you all the way . their isn't to many like him .

Your husband is absolutely right. I had one when I was 36, and thought the same way as you, for awhile. The sex part, not true. It was, and still is the same. or even better that before, and do not create your own depression. You said yourself, you feel better than you have in years. Try and think of all the positive things like no more periods! Good Luck. You will be fine

Your friends don't know what they're talking about. I had a hysterectomy 4 years ago...no depression, no problem in the desire department, my life is much improved. I don't have to worry about blood dripping down my leg, and I'm 52 and still not in menopause yet. Don't listen to everyone or they will drive you crazy...I did that before my surgery and was scared out of my wits...my surgery was a breeze, I was up and about the next day. The only after affect is my stomach is still a tad bit numb. Definitely wait, as everyone is different. Good Luck!

Oh girl, let me tell you... You will never regret having the hysterectomy done. I was glad when I had mine, back in 95' ... Yes sometimes the sex life changes. You may have to be on hormones. The sex can be great, when you have enough hormones in your system. You won't have to worry about getting pregnant again. No more monthly times. I just say Thank God, I don't have to go thru that anymore. If you want to talk more about it, you can email me at.. oklahoma_angel_1@yahoo.com.............Good luck to you...

I was about your age when I had mine...and it was the BEST decision I ever made! Honest! Do not listen to your "friends"...did you love your periods?...did you like cramps?...did you enjoy excessive bleeding?...how about fear of pregnancy?
All that is OVER! You can throw away your calendar and buy some sexy nighties! You go girl! Life is not over...it's just started! And that thing about sex? WRONG!!!! Relax and enjoy...nothing else has changed! It's the same you and the same him!Good luck!

Listen to your husbands advise. Everyone reacts to treatment differently. If you feel great now, thats all that matters. If issues arise in the future then deal with it then. Enjoy feeling great again.

Why would "life in general" suck? I would hope that there is more to life than just your uterus!
Talk to your doctor.
