Some internships do pay, so you might be lucky and find one of those and kill two birds with one stone. I know that the internship my daughter did this year gave her so many job connections for the future; it was invaluable. But, if you can't find a paying internship, then of course a part time job it will have to be.

An internship, though it usually doesn't pay or doesn't pay much, is the best way to go if you want a job in your field immediately after graduation.

The reason: you're much more likely to get offered a full-time job at the company once you graduate. However, it's also important to realize that once you are offered a full-time job you will most likely NOT be paid the same amount as someone entering straight off the street with the same education. But you can't beat the first-hand experience you'll gain from the internship, either! Good luck.

Pick the one that is more relevant to your line of work. Whenever I have had to hire people we did not make a distinction between internships and work on the side done while studying. The only thing that mattered was that the experience was relevant to the field.
