I've had tons of UTI Infections and Kidney Stones. It usually takes a few days for the symptoms to go away after starting antibiotic, but you've been taken them long enough that they should be completely gone. It sounds like the meds arn't working and the infection could be getting worse. My infections are bladder, kidney or both. So perhaps you have a kidney infection which is where the pain would come from. It is also possible that you are passing a kidney stone which in most cases causes a lot of pain both in the back and stomach. Either way, after taken the meds for that long and not working, I'd go back to the doctor as soon as possible.

Call your Dr. In the mean time. Drink plenty of fluids, stay away from carbonated and caffeine Beverages. Water, and cranberry juice is good. The Cranberry juice Kills the Bacteria in your bladder. If you don't like cranberry cran apple isn't as bad, not as acidic. I would call your Dr. in the Morning. That can be a sign of a Kidney infection or if severe pain a stone. If that happens- pain on either side of your lower that is SEVERE. I would go to the ER.
Hope you feel better. Sometimes certain bacteria becomes resistant to antibiotics. IT seem much less common in UTIs but it still can.

I would go back to the doctor right away. Pain shifting from your abdomen to your back could be a sign of the infection spreading to your kidneys.
Maybe the antibiotics the doctor prescribed you arent working with your form of infection.
Im surprised your doctor didnt give you any medication for the pain.

If your pain has shifted from your stomach to your back, this may be an indication that the bacteria has traveled to your kidneys. U could experience fever, back pain, shaking chills and irritation when urinating if it has. Try this, ask someone to place one hand on one of your kidney and w/ their other hand, make a fist and hit the hand. If you feel pain, then this could mean a kidney infection. I would definitely see your doctor.

Instead of suffering with back pain along with having a uti, I'd say visit your Doc one more time and tell him that you feel that you're not benefiting from the original prescription and that you may need to have something else. He will probably tell you to stick with the medicine you have until your prescription is gone, but at least you will have gotten to speak to him about your problem.

There might be two possibilities: either the bacteria causing your UTI are resistant to the antibiotics you take or you have a viral UTI and antibiotics don't work. Please check in with your doctor, as it is important for him/her to know what you experience.
