why do people keep using the word repectivly when they talk about something ....

respectively refers to the order of introduction. If Dan, Sandy and Doug won first second and third respectively then Dan took 1st, Sandy took 2nd etc.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone use the word in regular conversation.
