ok - yes everyone learned in spanish class that chi-chis means boobs - and yes i know that it was SUPER americanized mexican food - but - it was so good. im not saying there are not good mexican restaurants - and no restaurants names after boobs - im saying that i miss chi chi's corn cakes and sloppy american mexicali. i think im allowed to miss that.

I Remember Chi-CHis when I attended the University of Akron in the late 80's I thought it was awesome , then I moved to Southern California and tasted real authentic Mexican Food , turns out Chi-Chis was not that good at all !

I agree. Chi-Chi's was the best! All their food was soooo good. I just can't believe that they went out of business. I feel your pain 'cause I really miss those moist, sweet (but not too sweet) corn cakes, too. There is no other Mexican-American chain restaurant that even comes close anymore.

There food was ok. Not real mexican though. I still never could figure out why the restaurant was named chi chi's since that is slang for boobs.

We were just talking about Chi Chi's the other day. We were talking about the corn cakes and that they were my favorite part of dinner and the chicken chimi was great. I know it wasn't authentic but I didn't care.
Oh and the fried ice cream with strawberries yummy!

I thought the food was pretty good and they had happy hours where a lot was free. I think they might have been a victim of not charging enough.

I liked them. I liked their food and their strawberry Margeritas. It was a fun place to go after work and relax before going home.
