I believe that how you say you are sorry depends on many variables. For instance: Were feelings hurt by the other party? Was one party offended? Is there one party who just won't deal? Is one party a person who is (amazingly) never wrong? Did someone do or not do something? Did one party mess up a little or a lot? Did one party lie, cheat or steal? Can the party who did the wrong thing correct it, or is there no way to correct it? And there are many more bits of information to help decide the best approach to a sincere apology. However, I don't have that information, so, just shooting from the hip, I would say that a dose of reality is usually helpful, though a bit drastic. Have you ever driven by a bad traffic accident and noticed that the people you are in the car with are suddenly nicer to one another? There's a sort of quiet kindness that permeates. In essence, you feel a mix of relief, sadness, and optism. These kinds of experiences produces a shift in perspective. You feel happy to be alive and grateful for what you have. Unfortunately, it too soon wears off.
For you to try to arrange a shift for your other person, get your them to a hospital, funeral home, or similar space, to jolt them back to reality. Have them walk through there for a while for whatever reason. You want them to see what in life really matters. People seem to connect on this spiritual level, more than on the logical or emotional level. And - it is often QUITE highly effective.
At the time of your apology, your partner has been looking at everything - including people and situations - with more kindness and empathy and with a healhier perspective. This change in perspective gives you the chance and makes an opportune time to patch things up. After your apology, have them then and there commit to meeting/talking on a set date as soon as possible. Best of luck! Joyce

It's a hard thing for me to do. But I have came right out and said I was sorry. I wouldn't say I'd never do it again to them cause it may happen sometime unintentionally.. so I leave that out.
Then I show I'm sorry by my actions 'which speak louder then words'

I think this is one of the hardest thing I have ever had to do, But I sat down with them and told them how sorry I was and why I did what I did. And that I loved them and I was going to try my hardest never to hurt them again.

well, it isn't like they don't know.... if it helps, break the ice with something there's no retreating from like "I'm such an a--, sometimes".
