Ok this is kinda gross -but it happened so here goes
I left my 8 month old daughter with her daddy & her brother (my step-son) whose 11 - I went to the store & was gone for 30 minutes to buy dinner - When I came back my step-son told me while his dad was outside -he changed his sister's diaper
And it was a poopy diaper - he turned his head away for 2 seconds and when he turned back around he said her foot had gotten in the Poo & she had already stuck her foot in her mouth !!!! In other words she got POO in her mouth !!!!
They both said they wiped it out with a babywipe and got it all out
I was FURIOUS !!!! And SO upset !
I took a wash rag and rinsed her mouth out with water
I called my mom & told her what happened & she said she should be fine -but just give her some yogurt -cause it should kill any bacteria in her mouth from the poo -
But I'm still worried she could get sick - she seems to be fine - but should I take her to the Dr. anyway ?Has this happened to anyone??

Is this your first child? I do not mean that with sarcasm but rather with empathy. Kids are going to put all kinds of gross things in their mouth. When she becomes a toddler she will experience many things using all of her senses including taste. "Everything goes in the mouth". You will of course make sure that toys are clean and anything poisin will be out of reach. Watch her to make sure that there is no vomiting or rejection of the poo poo. Honey this has happened or a similiar situation to everyone. Relax. It sounds like you are a great mom. It also sounds like Dad and son are trying to help out - be grateful.

She'll be fine. Personally my son has never done that exactly--but think of all the other bacteria and germs kids get into in just one day. You did everything you could (with the wash rag and all) and I think everything will be fine. You seem a little worried so maybe call the doctor's office and see what the nurse has to say. She'll probably say everything is fine--but it'll make you stop worrying!

When my sister was little she took off her diaper and it was everywhere... this was 30 years ago and I still remember it vividly...lol but Im almost 100% that she got some in her mouth too.... She was fine after the event (we still talk about it to this day..lol) I would give her the yogurt and keep an eye on her... maybe just call the Dr and see what they say?

a smililar situation has happened to me. my son had figured out how to take his own diaper off at 6 months and would have poo all over his face hands wall and crib when we go get him in the morning, and he had done it a couple of times after that, when his daddy forgot to put a sleeper or shorts or something to cover his diaper on him. he is now 1 year on the 26th. I never took him to the doc. and he never got sick. if ur too worried, ask ur doctor

Try not to worry, she will most likely be fine. Children often stick their hands in their diapers and then their mouth, and most never have any troubles.
Think about what all else your daughter comes into contact with and her fights off.

I'm sure she will be fine, and I'm also sure she is not the first baby who has eaten poop. Don't worry. If she shows signs of sickness (fever, diareaha, vomiting) -- which I'm sure she won't--then take her in to see the doctor.
I am in Canada and we have the healthline (a number to call with questions like this, that nurses answer and look on a medical internet) do you have anything like that? That might ease your mind.

Your baby will probably be fine, but the yogurt is a good idea, not just because she had the poop in her mouth and it will kill the bacteria, but it is also good for her.

She'll be fine, babies eat really gross things sometimes. I don't think she'd catch anything, they are her own germs. I don't think yogurt will do much other than make her happy and get rid of the taste...yogurt has it's own type of bacteria in it, so it really won't kill any bacteria.

my mother always used to tell me the story about when i was about6 or 7 months old and i was in my crib, She knew i was awake but she just let me play for alittle while . i was being awfully quiet so she came in to check on me. i was sitting in my crib with poop smeared all over the crib , the wall, myself and even in the corners of my mouth.
I'm sure your baby will be fine but if your worried call your doctor.

It will make a good story to tell all her friends when she is older.
My mother told everyone I knew

Most likely she will be fine, but you should call her doctor's office and they can tell you whether she should be seen or not. They may tell you some signs to watch out for. Don't be mad at your step-son. It was an accident. Babies move fast.
