Could the new capacitor be bad too? The blower will still kick on if I give it a careful shove. Some one also told me there could be a dead spot in the motor and giving it the same symptoms of a bad capacitor.

you can have the capacitor checked at graingers before you buy one, but that is usually the cheep fix. your motor has a bad winding as reported before, don't get your finger, spinning the blower.

Did you get the exact replacement capacitor? Or just close? The motor has to have more voltage to start than to run. Some motors use a start capacitor and a run capacitor.

It's been my experience that when the starting capacitor fails, it often takes out one of the windings on the motor. Check for continuity on the motor windings.

It sounds like an open in the start winding of the motor. When you spin the motor, you are doing the job of the start winding, it starts, and the run winding takes it from there. Replace the motor.

bad motor unless it is caught on the houstin. 99 percent of the time the motor is shot. replace it and make sure to use a new capicator sized for the new motor. DIY cost about 100 contractor cost 400

If your blower motor has a place to oil it, do so.
