Pet shop hamsters are capable of hibernating, but only if the tempeture reaches a very cool, and steady, temp. If they feel it's too cold, they will put themselves into a hibernating state.

Generally, as hamsters are kept indoors, and the indoors is heated during cold months, your hamsters will not hibernate. It has been known to happen, however.

no b/c hibernation is triggered when a certain outside temperature is reached, and when a hamster is kept in a cage, generally the temperature is pretty well controlled.
