The most important thing you can do is be there for your family right now. If you leave and something terrible happens to your brother - you'll never be able to forgive yourself. Think of the comfort your giving in - he needs your love and support right now. GA will always be there and when your brother is back on his feet you can go back with a clear conscience.

Is there any other family that can take some of the burden of of you? Don't be such a pushover that you lose yourself and don't put yourself first. You have your own life in Georgia. Did you leave beind a husband, children, job? Why should you put your life on hold? Maybe he needs to go stay with you in GA, otherwise you need to go back home. I don't want to come across as selfish, but is this an illness that can be cured soon? Maybe a nursing home would be an option. Just some thoughts. Good luck.
PS: I just moved to Georgia from Iowa two weeks ago and I love it.

I moved to Florida over 4 years ago and I miss my home, too. I am here, though, to provide what's best for my family right now and here I will have to stay until that job is done and I can go back home to the wonderful Northwoods of Minnesota.

I live in IL. I am guessing, but I think Georgia would be quite different. Good luck with your brother, and you're doing a good thing. Don't worry, you will be able to go back sometime.
