I got a weird question... today i got a pap smear and I noticed I had some white discharge before she performed the test, well afterwards I was really wet from having it done.. Does that normally happen since they have to get dna stuff from the cervix?

It is normal to have some amount of discharge at any given time. When they do a Pap and pelvic exam, the doctor uses a lubricant; , the remaining lubricant is what causes the wetness afterwards. It doesn't sound like anything abnormal happened during your exam.

When gynos use that duck-bill shaped apparatus to stretch the vagina (to get an accurate smear), they use a lubricant-which may account for you're being really wet afterwards. Also, since pap smears are usually timed to be done at a certain time of the month (ie: while you're not on your period), you could have been ovulating, etc., or at a point in your cycle where moderate discharge is normal.

We dont get DNA from a pap smear, what we are looking for is abnormally shaped cells. The wetness is normal, with the swab stimulating your cervix it also stimulate the glands, it is completely normal.

Its normal for a woman to have discharge (way for vagina to clean itself) unless you notice the following thing(s):
1. vaginitis- white to grayish discharge that has a bad fishy odor. U may itch or have irritation.
2. Candida- you have cottage cheese-like discharge and may experience itching and burning. Does not have fishy odor.
Pap smear is to check for cervical cancer caused by Human Papilloma virus. If you have 1 or 2, your provider would of let you know and given you the treatment. hope this helps!

Well white discharge can be normal or a sign of yeast infectin as for being wet after its done they put KY jelly in you when they do the procedure so that is probably why unless it sexually excited you somehow.

Did the doctor say anything about a yeast infection? usually you get white discharge but with an odor. If not ,it is just your body reacting to having something shoved into her. It is normal

It probably wasn't discharge after she was done it was probably the goop they use to lubricate it so it doesn't hurt as bad. That's why they usually give you a box of tissue after to clean yourself up before you get dressed

Many times docs will use lubricating jelly on the device they use to look inside you this could be the wetness.

Sounds like what you are talking about is from using a lubricant on the speculum.
