Yes. There are so many stupid people in it, it's hysterical; I can't help but laugh at stupid people.

Seriously, no. The world has always been in hysterics and always will be. It's just that people in this day and age are just starting to pay attention to it. Consider the Crusades, WWII, the Inquisitions, any Enlightenment period, 100 Years War, Gutenburg Press, etc. The world is never stable; there are rough periods, then periods of relative peace, and it all depends on the country. I know those are not recent years, but they do show the chaos that is the only consistency in the world.

The school teachers are so bad that the kids are illiterate, and as Beavis and Butthead approach middle age, they freak and get really, really superstitious.

And superstition manifests itself as hysteria. If you don't believe that, listen closely, like a detective, to country and western music.

Yes, hysteria is a problem and it's growing. Only the Pentacostal and snake-handling churches benefit from this trend.

Nah, just the mass media. They need their ratings to get advertising dollars so they are over-the-top hysterical.

Case in point is that dude in Thailand who said he killed Jon Benet Ramsey. The media had a field day with it, and the dude wasn't even in Colorado at the time of the murder!!

Stay away from the media and you'll find your peace.

The ownership of most media by a few huge corporations has reduced the information people see to tidbits of entertainment and scare mongering. Stupid people are much easier to get worked up into a fighting frenzy.
