Early on, right after World War One, a cruel and unfair peace was signed with Germany that required it to give up some of its most economically productive land, and at the same time it was saddled with enormous reparations payments. This, after having been promissed a "just" peace. So Germany's economy collapsed, the currency superinflated, and millions of basically innocent, decent Germans were financially ruined, driven into starvation, setting the stage for a demagogue like Hitler to appeal to their nationalism and economic self interest. So first off, a decent peace with Germany could have avoided all of that, Hitler never would have even come to power in the first place.

Secondly, Hitler was a National Socialist, he actually did some reasonably good things for the German economy before he got in to antisemitic policies and war. So if the allied countries had arranged trade agreements with Germany conditioned on responsible, reasonable behavior from the German government, Hitler and his Party could have achieved political success without any inclination to either antisemitism or war.

Thirdly, given that Hitler went as evil as he did, when the first signs appeared of his aggression, he could have been eliminated. Germany was militarily weak in the early 1930's, it would have been a fairly easy task to sieze Berlin, arrest Hitler, and impose an acceptable government. There are many historians who give credit (or blame) to Stalin for his aggressive direction of the Communist movement in Germany in antagonizing the masses enough to support Hitler, so some encouragement of the USSR to have moderated its Comintern agitation in Germany would have helped, too.

World War Two was actually a continuation of World War One, the years from 1918 to 1939 were merely a rest and rearming phase, the underlying conflicts that caused World War One were not resolved until the end of World War Two, so to avoid WW2, WW1 would have had to have been short circuited or avoided, too.

Big mistake #1 was the appeasement of Hitler in the days before the invasion of Poland. We are sadly now repeating that mistake by appeasing terrorists. These Islamic terrorists are different than terrorists like the IRA or the PLO, who has somewhat a real beef. The Islamic terrorists simply want mass Genoside of any and all infidels, and thier messiah will not come until this is completed.
Big mistake #2 I think the Germans were given a bad deal after World War I, which made them bitter, so that fed anger and hatred.
Big mistake #3. We probably could have avoided Pearl Harbour, but that's not how history happened.
Big mistake #4. This was after the war, but it was a mistake in that period. We gave East Germany to the U.S.S.R., we should have pushed the U.S.S.R. back to Russia.
It's ironic that all these bad policies continue to this day. 9/11 was Pearl Harbor. Hitler is the Islamic Genocideists, The League of Nations = The United Nations. Same story different era.

We gave East Germany to the united statesR., we can could desire to have pushed the united statesR. back to Russia. it extremely is ironic that all and sundry those undesirable coverage regulations proceed to on the instant time. 9/11 was Pearl Harbor. Hitler is the Islamic Genocideists, The League of international places = The United international locations. equivalent tale sensible era.

World War II could have been stopped if the Allies (especially England's Neville Chamberlain) had stepped in immediately when Germany invaded the Sudentenland instead of letting him go ahead and do it. At that time Hitlers Army was below strength and if the Allies (Britain, France and Russia) had of thrown their forces against Germany it would have been all over bar the shouting.

The rest, as they say, Is History!

There was nothing anyone could have done to prevent war. Hitler was determined to use the military to create a Europe controlled by Germany. The only thing that would have stopped it was the assassination of Hitler prior to the outbreak of war in 1938.

Have a nice day.

Appeasement

Appeasement is a strategy where, in exchange for continued peace, one party grants concessions to the other. Britain and France demonstrated this with the 1938 Munich Agreement, sacrificing a potent ally, Czechoslovakia. Appeasement not only gave Hitler what he wanted, but it made him confident that he could get what he wanted once again without provoking war. This turned out not to be the case.

A more fair peace at the end of World War One for sure. It could have prevented much of the discontent and economic upheaval in Germany during the 1920's and 1930's.

Occupation of the Rhineland while the Germans were weak and occupied with the invasion of Poland. Even a small force would've brought the war to an immediate end. All of the German armored divisions were in the east. The French and British blew it.

here is a "conspiracy theory" based answer for a bit of variety. there is a small cabal made up of european nobility, the catholic church, very wealthy corporatist and banker types, etc., who own the planet. they essentially run everything, including both sides in every war. that way they "can't lose" and also make a fortune from selling arms, etc. to all sides. they really don't care who wins. their main goal is to make money by any and all means, decrease the planets' overpopulation by any and all means, and have control over everyone and everything, using any and all means. their middle level managers, like our moronic president, just take orders. for openers, google "bush crime family" for a taste of the "theory". thus, the inner workings of the second world war such as the "appeasement drama", and all the usual wartime atrocities, etc, are basically themes to keep the peasants in shock, fearful generally, etc. a populous in fear is always easy to control. btw, as is the case with the nincompoop "first twins", the children of the (extended) cabal very seldom, if ever, serve in the endless wars to "save humanity"
