Please be aware that a solar eclipse poses no danger at all to pregnant women (actually, a solar eclipse poses no danger to anyone in any condition).

A solar eclipse is simply the moon's shadow cast on the earth's surface whenever the moon passes between the earth and the sun every month. If you would stand in the correct location at the correct time every new moon, you would see a solar eclipse every month.

Even though people sometimes compare it to a religious experience, there's nothing magical or mysterious about a solar eclipse. Don't let anyone lead you to think that the moon has some power or influence over you when it's full or new or up or down or involved in an eclipse.

A lady I once knew believed that the positions of the moon and planets at the moment of her birth somehow had some power or effect over her and how her life unfolded. Despite the fact that, at the moment of her birth, the gravitational attraction between her mother and her, and the doctor who delivered her and her, was greater than the gravitational attraction between her and the moon and planets, she continued to believe that the moon had some mysterious power over her.

Get as close to a solar eclipse as you like. . . it won't hurt you (or your unborn child)!

This is a superstition. I am not sure if it is true or not but they say that if you put a key on your belly during an eclipse then that would protect the baby. I think its a lunar eclipse though, not a solar eclipse. My uncle was born with his fingers stuck together and my mom told me that when my grandma was pregnant with him that there was an eclipse. This might just be a coincidence but thats my story.

None to the pregnancy, but usual precautions should be taken for the vision.
