I actually love those movies more so because they make you think about human behavior and how we often get in our own way of getting what we want. Technically, other than putting the people in the situations, John did not harm anyone. He gave them all the tools they needed to keep themselves safe, they just didn't utilize what was right in front of them.

I don't like scary movies, and these were quite suspensful, but they were great!!

The first one was perfect in the sense that it made you think about how it would feel to be locked in the room. The second one felt more "hollywood" like it was just another movie. The good thing about the second one was that you met John, it then became upsetting even though he had a twisted mind.

I agree with Sean, the first one was original and had a great end. But the second, just like most sequels to horror movies, was mainly just gore without much thought behind it. And if a third and even more come out, they will be even bloodier and will have lost that original premise of appreciating life.

They were a breath of fresh air to the horror movie genre. After all the crap they make now, other then Rob Zombies movies, they are soemthing new and more creative then remake after remake of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and friday the 13th and it's 20th part or whatever. They were genius, nail biting movies....

I loved the first one, but the second one just annoyed me.
And if the Saw movies are the only movies that have ever made you think, you need to start watching different genres man.

I can't say it's really had an impact on my life and wouldn't necessarily say that 'he' doesn't kill them. He may not pull the trigger, but he's responsible for the deaths. Both cool movies though and I normally don't like 'horror/creepy suspense' types of movies.

The first one was great for the reasons you stated. However, the second one wasn't as good because I didn't feel that the people did anything to deserve to die. Plus, many of the traps were kind of random and unsolvable, like the box full of razors with the "antidote" inside.
