I have a psy degree and an art degree. Colors effect all of us. Do something about the effects of color on people and their moods.

In case you change your mind and want to do an actual controlled experiment...

Quick and easy and will actually measure something about psychology, not to say social norms are not a good idea but they are more sociology than psychology.

Test the effect of caffeine on a persons internal clock.

Ask 10 people to count to 60 in their head while you look at a stopwatch. Record how fast or slow they go without looking at the clock.

Then give them a quantity of caffeine in the form of a pill, softdrink or coffee. Let them ingest the caffeine.

After a determined amount of time repeat the experiment. If your hypothesis is that caffeine will speed up our internal clock, then they should count faster the 2nd time.

One important thing. Make sure you do not tell the subjects their time the first time they test...this may cause them to adjust their counting accordingly.

You could do something on social norms and behavior. Like how people behave in elevators and waiting rooms. If you have several people in your group, you could go into an elevator together but not act like your together. Then right away one person begins to take off their shoes. As soon as one of you starts the others follow immediately, but silently, like it's the most natural thing in the world to do- and remember not to act like you know each other. It's very likely that the other people in the elevator will do the same. Or you could simply just stand facing the opposite way as soon as you get in. It's really interesting to just tweak everyday situations and watch how people respond to social norms even when they don't have the slightest idea why!

Survey??? That's no fun. Try these ideas.

Stand the other way in the elevator and watch how people react. Ever notice everyone turns and faces the door?

If you're a good student (4.0 or at least close) talk to another teacher and have him or her keep your real grade secret and put low grades on your papers and see how your classmates react to you failing a class.

could do a why do opposites attract project...interview couples and find out why they are attracted to each other, and then give a reason for that innate attraction...although that might be overdone...

could do a survey on dreams, find out people's dreams and especially if they have any recurrent, and then make a point on whether those "dream dictionaries" have any truth...or just something on dreams.

How about strange names that people are saddled with by their parents? How does it affect the people? How do they perceive others with strange names?

Seems to me that this is a timely question. Strange names abound.
