u add 3/4 to each side becuz what u do on one side u have to do on the other. then u get y=1 3/4 + 3/4. so all u have to do is add u get 1 6/4 then becuz 6/4 is an improper fraction u have to change it into a mixed number which would be 1 2/4 which reduces to 1 1/2 then u add 1: 2 1/2
