my period always skip one to two months. When should i ovulate? or do i even ovulate if my period isn't normal? It would skip one to two months then I'll have my period on the first or second week....then i'll skip again for 1-2 mos and start on the 3rd or 4th week. So I have no idea what my body is doing. Please give me some advice. I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

You are absolutely right, you do not know what your body is doing with irregular periods like that, so you shouldn't try to guess. You can very well be ovulating every month but there is just not enough lining to shed, or something is a little off with the hormones so its not triggering menstruation. You could even be having very very light periods you don't really notice and think it is just spotting. Its not necessarily a problem, especially if you are young, under 25 and your body could still be evening out its cycle. One thing that resets the cycle very effectively is to go on the pill, even just for 3-6 months can straighten it out, so think about trying that. While you are on the pill it should definitely get regulated, and of course then you wouldn't be ovulating.

If you are trying to get pregnant then go on the pill for a few months then go off, that should make it more predictable.

The only way for you to know if you are ovulating is to take your basal body temp each morn, same time and before you get up. You should see a pattern in temps that leads up to and after ovulation. You can get the basal thermometer at Wal-Mart for about 8 dollars. I use a wonderful FREE website called Fertilityfriend.com...it graphs your temps for you, keeps track of your fertility signs, tells you when you ovulate and also tells you if there is an implantation dip in your temps. You can also use Ovulation prediction kits, but they only measure your LH surge and give you a ball park time for ovulation...they do not pin point it. Oh, and it is possible to be ovulating while you do not have your period, just like it is possible to have a period and not ovulate.

Had the same problem. Your best bet is to buy an ovulation kit to test when you ovulate. It gives you an idea when you should test, like when you notice changes in your body. The kits aren't cheap, but they're worth the money. I was able to pin my ovulation time quickly and my first child is the proof. Good luck!

I have the same problem. The thing is you don't know if you are ovulating those months or not so it's trial and error. Try having sex twice a week about three days apart. Worked for me.

Try right after your period. It worked for my friend.
