Take your homework and get it done there. Do not talk to the other kids. You will get in trouble. Just be quiet and take advantage of the time to get your work done.

It's only 30 minutes. Will they let you work on homework or read while you're there? I'm sure you'll be fine, and next time you'll know to finish your work. :-)
Added -- when you say "detention slip" --- are you referring to the fact that you need to take something home and get it signed by your parents? The best thing you can do is just calmly explain that you didn't finish your homework, so you were given 30 minutes of detention and you'll not do that again. Don't throw a hissy if your parents get upset. Just apologize and ask them nicely to sign the slip. They will be impressed by your mature behavior.

Do the four problems you're supposed to do. Don't talk to anyone , you're not there for a social life. If you finish the problems then start on your other homework, you'll be surprised how short a half hour really is . Oh and I bet your parents get to sign your detention slip so no getting out of not telling them. Next time do all your homework problems.

Do you have a crazy mom that gets angry easily? Be thankful. Have her cause big drama at school. Nobody gets detention for not doing your homework. Usually the punishment is a bad grade. Anyways, detention's not bad. 30 minutes? Are you kidding me? When I was 12 I had to sit in a room for 2 hours atleast 5 feet away from everybody else in trhe room...and you HAD to study. No magazines, drawing, or writing notes. Just do it. It's not that hard.

I've gotten like a million detentions before... who gives a shiit, they're gay. My detentions were always about an hour... I usually just talked to people but then I got in more trouble so you probably shouldn't... just sit there and do your work.
But honestly i've never heard of anyone getting detention for not finishing their homework, that seems a little odd to me..

I have never had detention, but from what I hear, it's not a big deal. Just get it over with and move on with your life. Next time, do your homework :), but if you're having trouble, talk to your teacher about it, and maybe you can work out a deal with them.

Yes! Sit down and do your homework or any extra work that they give you to do. Don't talk or especially don't be rude! Good for you for never having to do this before. Try not to let it happen again because your firends will not like being with you if you are misbehaving! You will also be with undesirable students while you are there so don't upset any of them! Just smile and leave them alone. Best wishes!

Well, if you got busted like that for three problems, it would be wise to sit down, shut up and take it. Seems like someone has your picture on their dartboard, LOL
In other words, don't give them a reason to give you another longer detention.
PS make sure you do all your problems next time. If you don't understand you can alway come back here and ask. :)

Read a book. Stare at the clock. Don't talk. Do your homework next time. Graduate and go to college.
