Of course it would be America. They always assume that would be the first choice for anything to happen. All these films where there have been aliens, natural disasters, etc,always happen in the USA. Not very realistic.
They would probably choose a more peaceful (and neutral)nation, such as Switzerland, not a nation that has a habit of "friendly" fire!

I would assume that they would contact the USA
It would be the logical choice, or so this is how I feel. I would also assume that they would have to be more advanced than us, or they wouldn't be able to travel through space and have the ability to have been studying us all this time.

No country.They would see that a majority of the planet is covered in water and that there are far more life forms in the water than there are on the land and make contact with them.
Why bother with the minority?
