This motion might be used by a procecutor to protect a domestic violence victim's address to keep her/him from being located by a suspect or to protect sensitive business information from being made public. I need it for my son's college paper.

It is NOT a Motion in Limine. That is totally different. (A Motion in Limine simply requires you to refrain from talking about a subject at trial without court permission.) What you are asking for is simply a motion to seal records. The truth is, it's not important what you call it. What is important is that you express, in the body of the motion, what you intend for the judge's order to do. Do that and it doesn't matter much what you call it.

There is supposed to be a way to do that by requesting it, yet it's opening a can of worms with the courts that's not pretty. You might want to check a website called Legal Zoom.com. They are supposed to have legal forms and information. Otherwise, check with your local courthouse in the family/domestic violence section.

Why are you doing your son's college paper? Isn't it time to cut the apron strings and let him figure things out himself?

They seal the records.
