First - are you sure you have Planaria? Little whitish colored worms that usually are more visible at night when the light is out?

If so - you are a good aqauarist for noticing this.

But I would like to recommend that you use a product from Seachem called Prime. It is truly the bomb of water conditioners. Here's a link for you to read and order if you like

I always avoid adding chemicals to my tank. I use bottled spring water only, and add half a teaspoon/gallon of freshwater salt to the new I add when doing a water change. Planaria shouldn't be treated with chemicals. When they die, the will pollute the water more and since they are there as a result of your over feeding, the wate quality is bad enough as it is. Don't feed your fish for a few days (it won't harm them and the reduced fish poop will ease the problem with your tank water), and the fish will snack on the planaria for a few days. After three days, start feeding again, but only half of what you have been, if there are any planaria left, they will starve themselves out.

I add chlorine remover to the water before I add it during a water change. I never break down my aquarium unless there really something bad happen and I never remove my fish. I never add anything to the water unless the ph gets too acid and then I add a little Baking Soda (NOT Baking Powder) to bring the ph back to 7.0-7.2. But, with regular water changes the ph stays around 6.9-7.1

i've always left the fish in.
i've never worried about a bunch of additives when i do water changes. i just put in some chlorine treatment, and then every time i do anything to stress the fish i add a lil bit of stress coat.

you need to treat the water with dechlor or it will kill the fish. as for conditioner, only if it looks like tank needs it. leave fish in aquarium. that is why you only remove part of water, to keep from messing with them and the environment.

You're SUPPOSED to, but I never did and my fish always thrived. You should leave your fish in during 20% water changes.

You need to check all your levels and then determine if you need to add or adjust your levels. If you monitor the fish habitat faithfully, you can leave the fish in the tank and not need a major adjustment!!!!!
