My ps2 isn't reading disks at all. the laser is geting way too close so its actually rubbing the bottom of the disk. how do I fix this? its a version 7 i believe. the model number is scph-39001

If this is an older PS2 model(as in not a slim pstwo) then the best bet would be to purchase a new one. If you have a newer PStwo you might be able to have it covered under warranty.

If you do indeed have to purchase a PS2 you may want to wait a bit.(if you can). It wouldn't surprise me to see a price drop on the ps2 with the pending release of the ps3 coming..to about $99. If you can't wait refurbished units at gamestop/eb are a pretty good bet and don't cost too much these days.
