Hi,

Make sure that all the products you use are oil free. Always was your face twice a day. And don't fall for the hype that "drying" products are better. Harsh products can actually cause your skin to produce MORE oil. Cetaphil is my favorite. If you MUST use an astringent, don't use it everyday, and try to get the most gentle one you can (Clinique Sensitive Skin is great).

Try to find moisturizers that are mattifying and/or oil free like Kiehl's Blue Herbal Moisturizer or Aveeno Clear Complexion...or you could do double duty with Oil Of Olay spf 15. Never skp the sunscreen!

Use foundations that are oil free/non comodegenic and use transluscent powder (my fave transluscent powder is Bare Mineral's Mineral Veil) instead of color. The oil will concentrate the color in the powder...and that's how people end up looking cakey. NARS makes an excellent oil free foundation. You could also try using a cream to powder foundation like Smashbox Conversion. Mineral makeups are also good (Neutrogena, Bare Minerals, Philosophy).

Also try using blotters instead of tissues. Try Clean and Clear Oil Absorbing sheets.

Good Luck!

The best product for an excessively oily face, believe it or not, is petroleum jelly.

Use it liberally to coat the face and rub it in also. It will 'melt' the oils in the skin and gather them for removal. Then, remove as much of the goop as possible with paper towels. Then wash your face well with a good, astringent soap, and rinse it thoroughly.

Your final step is a pat-down or spritz with witch hazel, which you can pick up at the pharmacy at the same time you get the petroleum jelly.

With this regimen once a week or more often if needed, your oily skin will calm down, as you will be clearing the pores of oil and impurities in a gentle, non-irritating manner.

Good luck!

I do the same thing. I have lived and struggled with oily skin. I have gotten more control of it. I found that Oil of Olay cleanser, for sensitive skin works the best. I use the oil blotters during the day when the oil starts coming thru. Wash morning and night.

Im wearing Maybelline makeup in the stick for oily skin and maybelline powder for oily skin. These work the best for ME.

I use to buy an Oil Control Lotion that I put on before my makeup from Mary Kay that worked well. Make sure your makeup is oil-free (of course). And use an oil-control powder after applying your makeup. If you powder get's 'yucked up' toss it! Make sure what you wash your face with isn't making it worse. Try Oil of Olay Sensitive Wash. Stay away from acne products that dry out your skin and make your face oiler.

Would you believe that I'm hearing everywhere that women put milk of magnesia on their face because it fights oil all day? If you think I'm full of it, google it. People swear up and down by it. It's one of those home things women have done since before all these overpriced products have hit the shelves.

i always wash my face with neutrogena clear pore. it has a whole lotta benzoyl peroxide that dries out your skin. it's awesome if you have oily skin but it bites when your skin is dry/ sensitive.
