No, they are two competing Japanese companies. I believe Nissan merged or allied itself with Renault, but I don't think Renault is actually a parent company. I have learned something looking at the other answers, however: I didn,t know Nissan was Datsun. I had always wondered what happened to Datsun.

no they are separate companies datsun changed name to nissan, they work together on joint ventures like electronics sharing software to reduce costs for both companies..
