Why Be Moral? Imagine that you've borrowed $100 from a friend last month, promising to pay him back this month after you received your paycheck. But since then, you've spent more money than you thought you would, and paying your friend back would be very burdensome for you (although not impossible). He's demanding that you repay him. Describe what you would do, and why you would do it.

its his money I made a promise. He is a friend I would do the best I could to pay him as much as I could pay him. I would do it because not doing it would eat me up. I would start to dislike the person blaming him for my failure to keep my promise. I would look for his character defects to justify my not paying him his money. I would make excuses as to why he doesn't deserve his money. So in order to not bring out the character defects that will pop up. I choose to do the right thing. Ask God for help in doing it. and I will feel good about myself for having accomplished a goal and keeping a promise. I of course will feel GOOD. Being Moral feels GOOD. That is selfish I guess but I'm no saint. I like feeling good.

I would pay him back because that's what I promised. I should not have spent unnecessary money this month because I knew I had a debt to repay. Now it is time to pay my friend and although it will be very difficult for me to make ends meet, my friendship is worth dealing with the difficulty and I will repay the debt. As a practical (but not priority) reason, I may need a loan again sometime and if I have not kept my word, I could not expect my friend to loan money to me again.

Pay it back. Your friend was kind enough to lend it based on trust, and he/she needs the money too, even if they make more money than you they may well have more bills - for example I make more than my high-school educated friends, but I have huge student loan payments, I probably have less money left over than some of them.

Worst case, if you are really stretched, then ask the friend if it would be ok to pay $50 now and $50 on your next check. If they say yes, then do it, no more fooling around!

I would find a way to pay him back because you do not want to loose a friend over money and you gave your word when you borrowed the money. Simply put, you repay him because it is the right thing to do.

Nothing in life comes easy. All you have in this life is your character. It is at stake here. You have to live with you. You wouldn't want someone to not pay you back. I would pay your friend back because I want to like me.

Pay him back ! Because you said you would, that doesn`t make you a very good friend by taking advantage of him.

I would pay him as a friendship is more important than what I could use the money for.

Pay Him as promised. I gave him my word and therefor I would do as i said I would. I have too much pride in myself to lower myself to greed and dishonesty.

For my own peace of mind and sense of fair-play, I would keep my promise.
How can anyone trust a person who doesn't keep his word?
