Dear Yahoo,
My palm tree has green stuff growing on the outside and it won't shoot any new leaves. What's wrong and how can I fix the problem?

It depends on where you live and what type of palm it is. A lot of palms are slow growers, so that may explain the shoot (or lack thereof) problem. Also, the porous surface of the palm trunk is a great place for many things to grow. The green stuff may not be a problem, just some plant that's found a home. If you post what type of palm it is and your location, we may be able to help a little more.
