Your question is a good one, and as others have demonstrated here, hard to answer precisely. But, yes, Senna must be included on the list of the very very best F1 drivers. I can really only echo what others here have already posted and say that I would put Sir Jackie Stewart, Alain Prost and Fangio on that list.
However, I would also add one extra personal choice, 'Il Leone', Nigel Mansell. Not because he won a series of world championships (like Schumacher), nor because he had powerful connections like Jacques Villeneuve (who is one of only two real racing 'stars' I have seen in these past 10-15 few years - the other being Eddie Irvine), nor because he could always command a race better than anyone else. No, none of these things are true. BUT, he did have more courage and sheer determination than any other racer of his era, and the only one who ever had the courage to race wheel to wheel with Senna. Remember him literally pushing his empty-of-fuel car to the line in the soaring heat of Dallas in 1984, but not making it because he fainted? Now, that's courage! And F1 needs a bit more of that these days, I think. Thanks for your question, and take care.

I think there are 4 drivers that truly deserve the title of "greatest F1 driver ever".
Juan-Manuel Fangio, because he created a record that was impossible to beat for 45 years in cars that could kill you at any minute. Yet he died 35 years after retiring from F1, in 1995.
Jackie Stewart, probably the last of the "gentleman" racers in F1.
And finally, Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost. Simply because of their rivalry, the greatest rivalry of all time in Formula 1. They were pure enemies since the first day they became teammates at McLaren, and that was proved by their hugely known moves at Suzuka in 1989 and 1990. But they knew how to pull off maneuvers like that in style. Unlike, let's say, Cheaty Schumacher.
BTW, Senna and Prost's rivalry ended in Australia 1993, when the two fought their last battle. On the podium at Adelaide, they shook hands and made peace.
After Senna's death, Prost vowed never to climb into a Formula 1 car again.

Undoubtedly Senna has been the best, unfortunately He died on 1st. of may 1994 at age of 33. In his own times there were great drivers who he had to compete with as Prost and Mansell. I don't mean Schumacher isn't a great champ but if Ayrton were still alive, the history would be another.

without question he's between the suitable F1 drivers ever yet no longer of all time. He has of course had dissimilar wins and intense factors scoring consequences yet do no longer forget the triumphing is all the way down to the team and the back room boys/females - and he has had the suitable! many of the time he has been fortunate to have the quickest racing motor vehicle which he continuously drives with perfection. it rather is a actuality however that present day F1 racing automobiles incredibly muchchronic themselves and are stored in trim by using their precise engineering team - and present day laptop suggestions updates. without his reliable team and motor vehicle he could be merely yet another stunning driving force. If all F1 racing automobiles have been equivalent in overall performance do you no longer have self belief the different drivers could have a greater robust share of the pole positions and the wins. My view is that many of the old time racing drivers who drove by using the seats of their pants, could supply any of the present F1 drivers a reliable run for their earnings comparable powered automobiles.

There are so many to chose from but my top four are Michael Schumacher, Nigel Mansel,Alain Prost but in my opinion Aryton Senna by far. I was watching the race when he was so sadly lost to the sport and never forget the out pouring of emotion cause the sport truly lost a real champion on that day

If you're going to to look at the statistics, it's Michael Schumacher because he holds almost every record in Formula 1... Otherwise it's Fangio or anyone from Fangio's era. IMHO, they're the greatest because they're driving the fastest machines then without the safety features that are now standard to today's F1 cars.
BTW, Schumi once said that Fangio's the greatest F1 driver ever...
