Another thing you might try is going thru an agency. A lot of times businesses will hire exclusively thru the agency. Also, agencies can help train you. I love Randstad...I could sit there for hours and learn computer software and work on my ten key or typing/keyboarding. Just cuz you are a guy doesn't mean you can't work in an office. If you know your ABC's it is not that hard to file. Plus agencies have good contacts in factory and construction companies. If you show a real desire to work, are relatively clean cut, and care to be on time...someone is going to hire you! I hired and fired for an accounting department and we were always looking for a young worker that wanted a break that was willing to learn and work filing and what not! Usually the fees are paid by the company that uses you and after 90 days, if they want and they offer a "temp to perm" job you get hired! It is a great way to go...good luck! :-)

Do you have a Kmart around? If so go to www.kmart.com in the search engine type in jobs. It will take you to Sears holdings because Kmart and Sears are the same company now. And yes despite rumors Kmart bought Sears. Go through the application it then takes you to an assesment. If you do good at the end it will automatically give you the times they do interviews and you click on the date and time slots available and it asks you to confirm then you have that slot for the interview. Easy as pie and when you go to the interview make sure you have good eye contact, smile alot and answer the questions with confidence. Do not look around the room while you are thinking about the question. Do not fidget with your hands. DRESS APPROPRIATELY. This would consist of a nice shirt tucked in and slacks. This is a great company to work for as well as for someone just starting out getting experience. Good Luck! And yes they hire minors. One more thing. The company is big on POSITIVE ENERGY so answer the questions with a positive attitude.

go back to school and finish high school. yes, the computer class will help your chances and there is a reason these 16 and 17 year olds can get a job and you can't. they are younger, Walmart etc can PAY THEM LESS. its horrible isn't it. they want cheap slave labour, and aren't going to hire you as they can't pay you youth wages, or they have to pay you a higher percentage of the adult minimum wage. life sucks. but do the computer class, and then see if you can get a job in an office as a receptionist or something (which would also be min wage) but where they can't hire those high school kiddies because they need more people during the day best of luck

I know how you feel. I've turned in over 10 applications since I was 16 (I'm 19 now) and I only heard from 3 of those place. I understand that it is frustrating when you don't get the call or they don't hire you. Just keep turning in applications and you will get a job. Also if you haven't heard from a job after 2 weeks give them a call to see if the position is still needed. By calling you are showing that you really are interested in the job. Don't give up! Good luck.

I had the same difficulty in getting a job. Sometimes the trick is to apply to places that aren't as popular...for example, my first retail job was in a store that didn't get in a lot of resumes, and so I had a much better chance of getting hired, and I did. If you drop off enough resumes, eventually you'll start getting interviews. If not, find somewhere to volunteer in the meantime, so you can get relevant job skills.

If you're looking for work now, really you should check this one out. Obviously you have a computer and internet. First, you should create a seperate email account for this, or really any online site you will need to give your email to cause they will spam you with emails. Then go to http://www.*************/index.php?ref=92568 and register with that new email. All you have to do is take surveys and answer questions, nothing more, nothing less. You're going to see surveys where you can make anywhere from $10-50 but avoid those. They will end up asking you to buy something or sign up for a trial or something like that and its really not worth it. Stick with the $.50-2.00 surveys. Do 8 $1 surveys in an hour...you do the math. Message me if you have any questions

gotta go to more than 3 places. alas.
get the hair cut to a 'business' look .. above the ear.
bathe, brush teeth, wear clean and newish clothes. button down long sleave shirt (blue is good), no jeans, (get the shirt and pants dry cleaned or pressed nicely). black dress shoe(polish that morning), no sport or tennis shoes. tie and sport coat is debatable. sweater ok.
It is important to do these things even when dropping off the resume, cause sometimes these are the people who will then invite you back.
(surprising how many people forget these sort of things)
Show up 10 min early. Look employable.
good hunting!!!!

The tennis environment has been invaded by funny creatures that will surprise us with their fun movements, and also with their ability in playing tennis.
For me, it's the best game ever.

if youve only applied at around 3 places then you arent giving yourself enough options. getting a job is a full-time job in itself. spend 8-10 hours each day applying at every business within a 25 mile radius of your home. dont take a day off until you find a job. dont sleep, dont sit, just bug people all day long. when youve applied at 200-300 places 5-6 times each and you still dont have a job, then you can complain.

Job searching is one of the most horrible rites of passage you'll have to experience, and first jobs are often the hardest.
When you need a job, you should treat your job search as your job. If you expect to work 20 hours / week at your job, spend 20 hours / week on your job search until you get an offer.
