This depends on exactly what it is that you want to know about manufactured homes, and whether you are talking about a manufactured home or a modular home. Modular homes are closer to custom built homes, and are built using a better quality of material, and are usually set up by using a crane, as they are often in three or four sections. They are much nicer than standard manufactured homes, but not built with the quality of a site - built home. Manufactured homes, on the other hand, are much less expensive, but are usually built using the cheapest, lowest quality materials (interior doors are not much better than cardboard, door trim is paper thin, door knobs are usually plastic,etc.). These homes are set up using a truck or a bulldozer in extreme circumstances. Prices vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, but one thing is a constant - they are never worth the money they want for them, and they will always DECREASE in value.

Manufactured homes are in a class by themselves. Typically, there are twice as many rules and regulations and half the quality as a regular house. If you can imagine the cheapest way of doing something, that's the best case scenario for a mobile.

My dad used to sell refurbished manufactured homes. I would find a dealer in your area, and ask them. Call around and see who's friendly. As with any business, there are some jerks out there. A good business person will be happy to help you out and point you in the right direction!
