Read the Bible ! It clearly explains why we have so many different languages. " The Tower Of Babel " is the reason why, this is where we get our saying, " stop babelling." God confused the men of Babylon by making it so no one could understand the other by making everyone speak a different language, pretty cool huh? coz is a very rich language!
but every language is almost the same ( at list for the languages i speak)
english too has different words for the same thing!
english is also a latin-normand language as french is (and not a germanic as a stupid here above is saying) if you know, is told that "english is french but spelled wrongly" at list this is sayed in europe, i don't know in US!

Because they are French. Wait, not all their words are different! Ever heard of 'chef', 'cuisine', 'deja vu', 'montage', etc?? We use them too.

yeah, its definately because they speak a different language. Surprisingly, English wasn't the first language ever spoken.
