People who overuse profanity, whether it be in music, or in everyday speech, are people who do not have an adequate vocabulary to express how they really feel. There are many ways to get your point across without the use of profanity. Too much profanity detracts from the message

Often profanity signals a lack of strong ideas and/or talent, but not always. Lenny Bruce used profanity in his comedy act to make a very important point in the age of excessive censorship, so it is not good to make a blanket statement.
Profanity does not make weak art stronger, nor does it make great art weaker. Art is art, and profanity is like spice. Used improperly, it screws up the whole dish.

i don't mind a few words here and then.. but too many swear words keep me away from listening to them.
Well it depends on people's personality whether or not they care how rude and profane people are. There are those who has allergic reactions to swear words, some who don't have a problem at all, and some who are in between.

i do no longer extremely care approximately profanity in my song. on no account harm a fly. Profanity in lyrics is a variety of expression. they are able to cuss all they want to, and that's their form of expression, so who's struggling with them? What i are not getting are song censors. I propose, I understand that some human beings can get indignant with the aid of listening to an entire be conscious, yet some songs are in simple terms thoroughly censored of the be conscious "drug" and "damn" and "hollow" and any sexual innuendo, yet a number of them not often censor "f*ck" with greater suitable than F--- or F--ok. BQ: I help comparable-intercourse marriage everywhere. Gays desirous to be mutually on no account harm actually anybody. i do no longer understand why they are not often allowed to stay the way they want to, in happiness.

It doesnt bother me as long as its not the entire song that contains profanity. Some songs have more feeling when theres a profane word.

I feel that if it is the way a musician feels, they should write whatever lyrics they want. When you listen to an artist like Tupac, you can see how much anger he felt towards certain aspects of society that were tough on him.
Punk rock and hard rock often use harsh language to convey anger. This does not make the music worse, nor does it make lyrics better than any other form of music...it simply shows the pain the artist feels.
Sometimes Eminem can be hard to listen to, because of the way he feels about his mother, etc... But I cannot judge him from the language he uses and how he feels because I have not walked in his shoes.

When there is so much profanity that it's just a string of curses, there's no point. A well placed cuss word here and there for emphasis is much more effective.

It depends. If a song is loaded with expletives, I think it comes off pretty lame, forced. But if it's just a few words that are adding to the feeling of the song, I don't mind.

well, it depends. a rocker screaming profanities is usually doing nothing more than driving his point, and holding up to the rock tradtion of contraversy, just like elvis shaking his hips. take rise against for example. known as one of the hardest rocking bands out there right now, they use profanity frequently. however, it is usually in defence of the envoirment, freedom or innocence. nothing wrong with that. however, a rapper, talking about his "hoes" is not benifiting anyone but his own overbloated ego. rock is man music.
