An equation which contains a variable means an equation which contains a letter

example: 3x + 2 = 4

Here x is the variable while 3 is a coefficient and 2, 4 are whole numbers.

U can make an equation with a letter and that will be an equation with a variable.

That just means an equation that has a letter in it. Like: 2x+5=9
x=2 because 9-5 is 4 and 4/2 equals 2.

9 - 4 = 5
